Mere Sands Wood is a Lancashire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for species like Goudvink, Ringmus, Grote Bonte Specht and Sperwer as they fly to and from their nests in the woodland. If you take a seat in one of the lakeside hides you may see Fuut performing their elaborate courtship ritual. IJsvogel are present as well as wintering Roerdomp. The lakes and reedbeds also support Waterral, Rietgors, Brilduiker, Tafeleend and more.There are multiple hides, and it's easy walking.
