Beschrijving
RSPB Leighton Moss has diverse habitats that include reeds, woodland and limestone grassland. It also incorporates extensive areas of mudflats, coastal marsh and saltwater lagoons along the shores of nearby Morecambe Bay. The nature reserve of Leighton Moss has extensive reed-fringed wetlands that are famous for Roerdomp, Bruine Kiekendief, Baardman, Waterral, waterfowl, waders and also Red Deer. The mixed woodland has nesting Glanskop, Boomklever, Goudvink and Bosuil as well as Staartmees, Taigaboomkruiper and woodpeckers.

Leighton Moss is near the village of Silverdale, just 3 km (2 miles) from Carnforth and is signposted from the A6 north of M6 junction 35. Car park at the reserve. Silverdale train station next door only a three minute walk from the reserve entrance. Free entrance to RSPB members, otherwise you pay an entrance fee (see the link below for current entry fee).

Café and visitor and education centre. Several birdwatching hides and skytower. Lots of different habitats including, woodland, lake, reedbed, marsh and coastal mudflat. Top notch birdwatching site.
