Ruddon's Point is said to be the best place in Britain to view overwintering Zwarte Zee-eend, Grote Zee-eend and the rare Brilzee-eend together. Also wintering here may be Eider, Brilduiker, Grote Zaagbek, Roodhalsfuut, Kuifduiker, all 3 diver species, Paarse Strandloper and Middelste Zaagbek.
Veldleeuwerik, Oeverpieper, Scholekster, Tureluur, Bontbekplevier and Kneu breed here, plus Kruisbek, Sijs and Goudhaan in the pines.
As with many east coast sites, rare migrants such as Sperwergrasmus, Bladkoning and Kleine Vliegenvanger may turn up in September.
