Beschrijving
The Solway Firth is an extensive and remote area of saltmarsh, mudflats, sandy coast, dunes and reedbeds attracting a wide range of wetland birds. Breeding and passage waders include Tureluur, Steenloper, Scholekster and Wulp. Winter wildfowl and seabirds include Slobeend, Wintertaling, Wilde Zwaan, Kleine Rietgans, Brandgans, Brilduiker, Eider, and divers, grebes, and auks. Also look out for Kleine Zilverreiger, IJsvogel, Veldleeuwerik, Roodborsttapuit and Graspieper. Otters are possible, plus seals, porpoise and dolphin offshore. At Grune Point the receding sea leaves tidal lagoons ideal for rockpooling.
