When Walmore Common floods it is a sheltered spot for Wilde Zwaan, Kleine Zwaan, dabbling ducks, Kievit, Goudplevier, Wulp, Bonte Strandloper, Watersnip and Bokje. There are Steenuil, Bosuil and Kerkuil in the area all year round. Sylvia and leaf warbers breed. Paapje and Gele Kwikstaart pass on migration. The Severn bore tidal wave can be viewed from the pub nearby.

Located north of the A48 Chepstow to Gloucester road which is a regular bus route. Park near Chaxhill primary school and follow footpath nearby to view. Further access from Lower Ley. Park at T-junction shown and walk west for 3/4 mile.
