Beschrijving

Salton Sea SRA Headquarters is an easy place to access the Salton Sea, with the shore still not too far from the parking areas. There is also an old harbor area, now cut off from the sea, that hosts numerous ducks (particularly Blue-winged Teal) and large numbers of Bonaparte's Gull in winter. Rare ducks such as Garganey and hybrids between Northern Shoveler and various teals have been found here in the past. Shorebirds are always possible along the sea shore, with offshore ducks and Eared Grebe also typically being present.

The area around the harbor and visitor center also hosts typical Sonoran desert birds such as Abert's Towhee, Gambel's Quail, and Greater Roadrunner.

In late summer, the regional specialty Yellow-footed Gull is possible.
