Description
These large lakes near the village of Kessenich attract many birds. The lakes have easily observable quiet zones. The reedbed has a constructed observation point. Brunnakke, Skjeand, Makrellterne and Dverglo breed in the area, Rørdrum nests in the reedbed. Also Sørnattergal can be observed. It is a very nice place for birdwatching, best visited in May (nesting season) or in winter (overwintering site for waterfowl).

Access
The village of Kessenich lies along the Meuse River. Several parking areas are available. Press P on the map for directions. Cycling is possible, except for the reedbed (path). The trails are signposted from the village. The circular route shown on the map is about 4,5 km.
