Description
The Sundet area is easily accessible, and due to the varied biotopes, many different birds can be seen in a relatively limited area. 190 different birds have been recorded in the area (2024). The hiking trail 'Fynske ø-havstien' goes through the area and allows for an extended walk, in the nature around the lake.
In the lake breeds, among others, Toppdykker , Snadderand , Taffeland and Toppand, and in winter large groups of Toppand and Skjeand can be seen. In the reedbed, the Sivhøne and Vannrikse breed, all year around there is Skjeggmeis and in spring, Rørsanger , Myrsanger and Sivspurv also arrive. The area also hosts Gråhegre and Egretthegre . Birds of prey can be seen flying over the area, most frequently Tårnfalk , Musvåk and Havørn .

Access
Lake Sundet is located immediately to the east of the town of Faaborg. There are several parking options in the area. The chosen parking is at Sundbrinkens børnehus, where there is an electric car charging station. The site is suitable for both walking and cycling. The largest part is a gravel path, but also an area with a paved cycle path, which is separated from car traffic. The circular route around the lake is about 3 km.
The extended route of 4,65 km, is only for walking, and is known as the most beautiful exercise track in Denmark. Follow the signs, see the picture below. See GPX file.
