Description
Balcary Bay to Rascarrel has a diverse range of habitats. Sea cliff birds include Havhest, Lomvi, Teist, Alke, Krykkje, Svartstrupe, Tårnfalk, Skjærpiplerke and Alpekråke. At sea, look for Svartand, Havsule, Ærfugl and divers. In Rascarrel forest Trekryper, Fuglekonge, Grankorsnebb and woodpeckers. Sangsvane and winter wildfowl on Loch Mackie.

Access
From Dumfries take A711 SW for 15 miles. Car parking at Balcary or Rascarrel. Click on the P in the map for directions. From Dalbeattie, bus 505 runs 7 times a day to Auchencairn.
The circular walk is 4 and 1/2 miles. NB the clifftop section is narrow and steep. Avoid if you have balance problems, children or dogs, also on windy days .
