Description
Fairlop Waters is the largest country park in Redbridge and has a wide diversity of habitats like grassland, woodland, ponds, and lakes. The large boating lake has Kanadagås, Sothøne and Vipe. A nesting habitat has been created on the main island for birds. Around the smaller fishing lake Toppdykker, Knoppsvane and sometimes Strandsnipe can be observed.
The surrounding area is a mix of open scrub with some thick areas of shrubs and trees which attract Tornsanger, Møller and Munk. To south of the main complex and golf course is a small fenced off nature reserve. Birds that you can spot in the area all year round include Grønnspett, Sanglerke, Gråhegre, Kirkeugle, Sivspurv and Heipiplerke among others. Some winter visitors are Fuglekonge, Taffeland, Skjeand and Toppand.
