Description

Merkinch is an area of tidal pools and mudflats, reedbeds, ponds, saltmarsh and scrub. Birds seen include Kvinand, Ærfugl, all three diver species, Havelle, Horndykker, Alke, Fossekall, Skjærpiplerke, Grønnsisik, Bjørkefink, Furukorsnebb, Gresshoppesanger, Fiskeørn and Spurvehauk.

Access

Merkinch is the NW suburb of Inverness. Follow Thornbush road/Kessock road to the terminus where parking is available. Regular bus service.
