Opis
Austin Bay Nature Reserve is a 6 km long stretch of tidal flats, beach and seagrass wrack that can be home to 1000's of migratory shorebirds and waterfowl, particularly over summer. Common waders include Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Red-necked Stint, Common Greenshank, Curlew Sandpiper and occasionally, huge flocks of Banded Stilt.
The Reserve forms part of the Peel-Yalgorup Ramsar site (Ramsar 482).

Effective birding is tidal dependent and rubber boots are an advantage; walking the full distance may be strenuous and conditions variable.
Note also that tidal information can be deceptive over the shallow waters of this location.
