Opis

Lac Orthez is a 40-hectare lake and the centerpiece of a 100-hectare recreational area. Surrounding the lake is a 3.6 km trail. The east side of the area is a bird sanctuary and most interesting for birding. You can observe several species of duck, kormoran, perkoz dwuczuby, perkozek, czapla siwa, czapla złotawa, ślepowron, łyska, łabędź niemy, rybołów, kania czarna, zimorodek, bocian biały and several species of passerines.

Français: Lac artificiel où on peut se promener autour. Des petits postes d'observation autour du lac avec un poste d'observation sur la réserve ornithologique. On peut y trouver plusieurs espèces de canards, des grands cormorans, des grèbes huppées, des grèbes castagneux, des hérons cendrés, des hérons garde-boeuf, des bihoreaux gris, des foulques macroules, des cygnes tuberculés, des oies cendrées, des balbuzards pêcheurs, des milans noirs et plusieurs espèces de passereaux ( fauvettes à tête noire, pinsons des arbres ... ).

Lac Orthez is located at the edge of the town of Orthez. To get to Lake Orthez from the A64 motorway: Take exit 8 "Orthez". At the roundabout, follow the direction of Orthez (D947). Continue straight for about 5 km until you reach the town entrance. Then follow the signs for "Lac d'Orthez-Biron" or "Base de loisirs". The lake is about 10 minutes from the motorway, near the municipal campsite and a large green area with free parking. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The best way to visit the site is on foot, as you have time to observe the lake properly. But it can also be done by bike.

Français: Pour aller au lac d’Orthez depuis l’autoroute A64 : Prendre la sortie n°8 « Orthez ». Au rond-point, suivre la direction Orthez (D947). Continuer tout droit sur environ 5 km jusqu’à l’entrée de la ville. Puis suivre les panneaux « Lac d’Orthez-Biron » ou « Base de loisirs ». Le lac se trouve à environ 10 minutes de l’autoroute, près du camping municipal et d’une grande zone de verdure avec un parking gratuit. Pour visiter le site le mieux c'est à pied on a le temps d'observer bien le lac. Mais il peut être aussi fait en vélo.

⚠️: The highway passes next to the lake and for a short distance you walk between the lake and the highway. This can make it difficult to hear the birds or identify if you use applications that recognize songs.

Français:⚠️ : L'autoroute passe à côté du lac et pendant un petit moment on marche entre le lac et l'autoroute. Cela peut géner les identifications si on utilise des applications qui reconnaissent les chants comme Merlin.
