Opis
The Büsnauer Wiesental (Büsnau meadow valley) is a protected area to the south-west of Stuttgart in direct proximity to the university campus Stuttgart Vaihingen, the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research and the Pfaffenwald forest. The Wiesental consists of meadows, small streams and ponds, hedges and a few reeds and is the only remaining part of a once much larger meadow landscape.
Even though the area is quite small, the Büsnauer Wiesental can be excellent for a variety of passerine birds that are rather uncommon or rare around the city of Stuttgart. sójka, raniuszek zwyczajny, mysikrólik, sikora uboga, trznadel, kwiczoł, szpak and dzięcioł średni can be found here throughout the entire year. trzcinniczek (zwyczajny), łozówka, gajówka, zniczek, gąsiorek and kania czarna are common to uncommon summer guests. In winter, paszkot, czyż and grubodziób can readily be observed, while gil and siwerniak are uncommon.
With some luck, migration can bring in particular highlights, like pokląskwa, białorzytka or muchołówka żałobna, as well as świergotek łąkowy and świergotek drzewny.
Though technically not part of the protected area, the nearby Pfaffenwald forest houses many interesting forest birds that can sometimes even be observed around the edges of the area. These include sosnówka, czubatka, pełzacz leśny and dzięcioł czarny. The roost of a puszczyk zwyczajny is just at the edge of the forest and well known by local birders.
