Opis
The Karwendelgrube is a high-alpine area at 2,244 meters, directly below the western Karwendelspitze. It is reached most easily by the Karwendelbahn, Germany’s second-highest cable car. The trail 'Passamani Panorama Rundweg' leads around the area and loops 1.2 km with views toward the Wetterstein and Karwendel ranges.
At the Karwendelgrube high alpine birds such as wieszczek, pardwa górska, pomurnik, płochacz halny, orzeł przedni, śnieżka, siwerniak and other birds can be observed. To find pardwa górska it's a good idea to thoroughly search the surrounding rock faces. pardwa górska often perch low on the scree slope near the bottom. Patience is essential. Numerous alpine plants can also be found in this area.

The easiest way to reach the Karwendelgrube is by taking the Karwendelbahn cable car from Mittenwald, which brings you directly to the mountain station at 2,244 m. Exit the cable car mountain station and the area unfolds directly in front of the visitor. Press P on the map for directions to the cable car parking in Mittenwald.
