Opis
The Longarini lagoon is a wetland area of about 200 hectares located in the territory of Ispica, a few hundred meters from the coast. It is the largest of a complex of marshes that extend between Ispica and Pachino. The lagoon attracts a wide array of species throughout the year. In winter one can see flaming różowy, several species of ducks, łyska, czajka, different species of herons, błotniak stawowy, zimorodek, remiz and more. During migration, the area attracts several typical wetland species, including waders such as kwokacz and szczudłak, as well as migratory ducks like cyranka and podgorzałka. The site is one of the last places where marmurka breeds in Italy. Re-introduced modrzyk can also be seen.
