Immediately north of the village of Westkapelle you will find the Noordervroon, a wet area rich in birds. It is not accessible, but can easily be viewed from the surrounding roads. Dozens of śmieszka, rybitwa rzeczna and szablodziób nest on the islands in the spring. Also rybitwa białoczelna has a breeding colony here, although the success of this is quite variable every year. sieweczka rzeczna and sandpipers (and swallows in summer) are always present. The puddles and reed collars themselves often provide surprises.
Various geese, ducks and grebe-like species breed in the grounds. warzęcha, czapla nadobna and all kinds of waders are also frequent guests. In the grassland there are skowronek, pliszka żółta and świergotek łąkowy. Birds can be seen up close from Hogeweg and from K. de Vosweg.

Nederlands: Direct ten noorden van Westkapelle vind je het Noordervroon, een erg waterrijk gebied, bijzonder rijk aan vogels. Daarom is het niet toegankelijk, maar vanuit de omgeving prima te overzien. Op de kale eilandjes broeden in het voorjaar tientallen kokmeeuwen, visdiefjes en kluten. Ook de dwergstern heeft hier een broedkolonie, al is het succes daarvan jaarlijks nogal wisselend. Plevieren en strandlopers (en 's zomers zwaluwen) zijn altijd wel aanwezig. De plasjes en rietkragen zelf zorgen nogal eens voor verrassingen.
In het terrein broeden diverse ganzensoorten, eenden en fuutachtigen. Ook lepelaars, kleine zilverreigers en allerlei soorten steltlopers zijn veelgeziene gasten. In het grasland zitten veldleeuwerik, kwikstaart en graspieper. In de restanten van het bos broedt onder meer buizerd en er komen ook reeën voor. De wegbeplanting rondom biedt zeker in voor- en najaar schuilgelegenheid en voedsel aan zangvogels als lijsterachtigen, zangertjes en vinkachtigen. Vanaf Hogeweg en vanaf K. de Vosweg zijn vogels van dichtbij te zien.

The Noordervroon is located directly north of the town of Westkapelle. From the Hogeweg and K. de Vosweg, you can see birds up close by bike and by car. There is a wheelchair ramp at the birdwatching screen. There are large (paid) parking lots along the seawall, but you can also park along the roads that run through the area. The area is also easily accessible by bus. Bus line 53 has two bus stops (see 1 and 2 on the map) is in the center of the area. A walking route runs all the way around the area. The walking route shown on the map is approximately 4 km.
You can also get a beautiful view of the entire area from the sea wall near the lighthouse and the Westkapelle Bird Watching Post (3). During the breeding season, rybitwa białoczelna often cross the dike here to forage in the surf. They sometimes fly right past you, and you can watch them fishing at sea and returning to their nests.

Nederlands: Het Noordervroon ligt direct ten noorden van Westkapelle. Vanaf de Hogeweg en vanaf de K. de Vosweg zijn vogels van dichtbij te zien op de fiets en met de auto. Bij het vogelkijkscherm is er een helling voor rolstoelen. Er zijn grote (betaalde) parkeerplaatsen langs de zeedijk, maar je kunt ook langs de wegen die door het gebied lopen parkeren. Het gebied is gemakkelijk bereikbaar per openbaar vervoer. Buslijn 53 gaat van Middelburg naar Domburg en heeft twee bushaltes (zie 1 en 2 op de kaart) direct aan het gebied. Er loopt een wandelroute helemaal om het gebied heen. De wandelroute die is weergegeven op de kaart is ongeveer 4 km.
Je kunt het gebied ook mooi in zijn geheel overzien vanaf de zeedijk ter hoogte van de vuurtoren en Vogeltelpost Westkapelle (3). Hier steken tijdens het broedseizoen vaak dwergsterns de dijk over om te gaan foerageren in de branding. Ze vliegen dan soms vlak langs je heen en je kunt ze mooi zien vissen aan zee en weer terugkeren naar hun nesten.
