Opis
The Krabi mangroves are a relatively easily accessible mangrove forest closeby the region's capital. You'll have the chance to see a good range of tropical birds like Brown-winged Kingfisher, White-throated Kingfisher, Asian Koel, Greater Coucal, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Green-billed Malkoha and with some luck even a Mangrove Pitta (prime target species for most in the region). There are also many different types of herons and egrets, most notably Striated Heron and Chinese Pond-Heron. Another highlight is the high chances of seeing White-bellied Sea-Eagle circling close over the water.
Beyond the birds, you can see some snakes and monitor lizards in the water, as well as monkeys in the forest. The mangroves itself are also just a sight to see.

The town of Krabi borders directly on the mangroves. The site is not accessible by foot or generally on your own. The mangroves are a river maze, without a boat and a guide you'll get completely lost. Close to the indicated location there is a pier where skippers leave. Also, via krabinature.com (see the link below) you can book a trip with a skipper who knows the region and its birds well and can also help you spot them. We did that and had a brillant time! Bring sunscreen.
