Opis
Entebbe Botanical Garden is one of Uganda’s most peaceful and biodiverse green spaces, sitting right on the shores of Lake Victoria in Entebbe. It’s a classic first stop for travelers arriving at Entebbe Airport and a favourite among birders. The gardens were established in 1898, and they are among the oldest botanical gardens in East Africa. The park has tall fig trees, wide lawns, pockets of forest, and the Victoria Lake shoreline. The variety of birds is unusually high for such a compact area.
You can encounter Great Blue Turaco, Ross's Turaco, Palm-nut Vulture, Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill, Crowned Hornbill, Grey Parrot, African Green-Pigeon, African Emerald Cuckoo, African Fish-eagle, Double-toothed Barbet, Broad-billed Roller, Black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher and many different sunbirds and weavers and a whole mix of lakeshore species. Vervet monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys also move through the trees, often quite close to the paths.
