Opis
There are numerous car parks around Blagdon Reservoir, and two bird hides. An 8 km circular walk around the lake is possible. See map on the link below.
The chief interest is the easternmost hide looking over the autumn mudflats. Expect biegus zmienny, rycyk, piaskowiec, krwawodziób, kwokacz and plovers. The swampy wooded area by the hide may have słonka and kszyk. Wintering ducks may include gągoł, świstun, Płaskonos, perhaps lodówka or perkoz grubodzioby. In stormy winter weather, proximity to the Bristol channel makes this a refuge for windblown seabirds. 177 species have been seen, including rarities such as płatkonóg szydłodzioby, biegus długoskrzydły, biegus mały and rybitwa czarna. From Bristol take A38 road south, turn left after ten miles and follow signposts. From Chew Valley lake it is a short journey westward along minor roads. A permit is required, obtainable from Bristol Water, see link below. Ask for combination to gatelocks.
