Opis
Loch Gruinart is one of the best places in Scotland to see wronczyk (northernmost nesting site), derkacz (a few) and wintering geese (up to 50,000, mostly bernikla obrożna, bernikla białolica, gęgawa and gęś krótkodzioba, plus łabędź krzykliwy). The RSPB reserve has a hide, a visitor centre and Natural history centre. Birds here include bielik, orzeł przedni, drzemlik, błotniak zbożowy, wodnik (zwyczajny), kropiatka, 16 regular wader species, 3 tern species, 3 diver species, uszatka błotna, rzepołuch and świergotek nadmorski.
At the sea end of the loch, Ardnare Point is a good seawatch location for viewing głuptak, divers, shearwaters, skuas, auks and sea ducks such as lodówka, markaczka and szlachar. Best place also for wronczyk. Ardnare loch is favoured by wintering dabbling ducks - cyraneczka, świstun, krakwa and Płaskonos.
