Opis
Talybont Reservoir has two bird hides, car parking, and a nice cafe in the village. Shallow water, marshland and exposed mud at the top end attract dabbling ducks, waders especially słonka, kszyk, bekasik, czapla siwa, czapla nadobna and wodnik (zwyczajny) in autumn and winter. The woods have muchołówka żałobna, myszołów, puszczyk zwyczajny, kowalik, pełzacz leśny and lelek. In the surrounding streams look for pliszka górska, pluszcz and kląskawka. And on the moors may be kulik wielki, siewka złota, Pardwa mszarna, kruk, świergotek łąkowy and białorzytka . The nearby canal has zimorodek.

Between Brecon and Abergavenny. Take the B4558 and turn south in Talybont village. A regular bus service runs through the village, from which it's a 2 mile walk to the reservoir. The circular route up to Tor y Foel is 5 km, with 250 metres of ascent. Stout boots, a hiking pole, snacks, a drink and waterproof clothing are recommended.
