The area of Trellech Beacon, Cleddon Bog and Broad Meend offers scenic woodland with islands of heath and raised bog. Dusk visit may feature sighting of lelek and roding słonka. Wood ants and adders. Follow B4293 from Monmouth or Chepstow. Parking on west side of the Beacon with short path to summit. Extra parking at eastern and western ends of Cleddon Bog, and between these sites is an interesting dragonfly pond..

Trellech was the largest town in Wales until struck by bubonic plague. Numerous historical sites in and around village, including Ffynnon Gaer hillfort which has skylarks. Also Cleddon Falls as marked on the map. Note that the Harold Stones are in fact located south of the main road and not as indicated on the map. the swampy areas around Harold Stones and the Wishing Well attract water shrews, swallows and house martins.
