Heidbendener Teiche is a recreation area near the city of Aachen with an interesting small pond and a stream in the immediate vicinity of a beautiful mixed deciduous forest. Perfect for combining a walk with birdwatching. Birds you can observe include Garça-branca-grande, Guarda-rios-comum, Galinha-d'água, Galeirão-comum, Ganso do Egipto, Pato-real, Alvéola-cinzenta, Garça-real, Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas, Chapim-palustre, Ganso do Canadá, Chapim-palustre, Lugre, Pica-pau-malhado-grande, Pica-pau-mediano, and Pica-pau-malhado-pequeno.

The Heidbendener pond is about a 20-minute bike ride from Aachen city center. A parking lot at the Lintertfriedhof cemetery is about 400 meters away. Press P on the map for directions. The pond is also easily accessible by bus, the bus stop (1) is right at the pond. The best spot for birdwatching is accessible to everyone via a paved path.
