A mosaic of water, reed, swamp groves and grasslands in the excavated peat. That is De Deelen, in the heart of the province of Friesland. In autumn and winter, thousands of ducks and geese, including Piadeira, Ganso-grande-de-testa-branca, Pato-trombeteiro and Ganso-de-faces-brancas come to De Deelen. Rare species such as Gaivina-preta, Garça-roxa and Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis also live in the area. If you listen carefully, you may be able to hear the Felosa-malhada singing in the spring. Other birds you can see here are Ganso-comum, Colhereiro, Pisco-de-peito-azul, Maçarico-real, Pato-real, Zarro-negrinha, Zarro-comum, Mergulhão-de-crista, Águia-d'asa-redonda, Ganso do Canadá, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and Andorinha-do-mar-comum.
