Bentinckswelle is a floodplain area of the river IJssel. A small road (Watch out! Rather busy with nice weather!) with good views on the floodplains. Many Ganso-comum, Ganso-de-faces-brancas, Ganso do Canadá and other aquatic birds. Águia-rabalva also visits the area. Gaivina-preta breed every year in this area with 10-18 pairs. At the pumping station, you can walk or drive the bad unpaved path to the river IJssel. Left and right of that path in the wet grasslands you will see geese, ducks, waders and alvéola-amarela. On the other side of the river you can see the Vreugderijkerwaard (also described on this website).

Nederlands: Bentinckswelle zijn de uiterwaarden langs de Gelderse Dijk - Zalkerdijk. Een smalle weg (Pas op! Best wel druk met mooi weer!) met mooi uitzicht over de uiterwaarden van de IJssel. Veel Ganso-comum, Ganso-de-faces-brancas, Ganso do Canadá en andere watervogels. Águia-rabalva bezoekt ook het gebied. De Gaivina-preta broedt elk jaar in het gebied met 10 to 18 paren. Bij het gemaal kun je het slechte onverharde pad naar de IJssel lopen of rijden. Links en rechts van dat pad in de natte graslanden zie je ganzen, eenden, steltlopers en alvéola-amarela. Aan de andere kant van de rivier zie je de Vreugderijkerwaard (ook beschreven op deze website).

From Zwolle drive in direction of Hattem. After passing the bridge over the IJssel, turn right. Access by car or bike. Press P on the map for directions.

Nederlands: Bentinckswelle ligt bij Zwolle, in de uiterwaarden van de IJssel, ten zuidoosten van het dorp Zalk. Vanuit Zwolle richting Hattem rijden. Na het passeren van de brug over de IJssel rechtsaf. Toegankelijk met auto of fiets.
