This is a great place for migrant waterbirds and other lake birds! A lot of rare birds visit this island each year and there is always something interesting to see! Most rarities turn up in April, May, September or October.
Wintering waterfowl including Mobêlha-pequena, Mergulhão-de-pescoço-ruivo, other Grebes, several species of Duck, including Pato-de-cauda-afilada. Migrating waders in spring and autumn, including Ostraceiro, Pernilongo, Alfaiate, Perna-vermelha-escuro, Borrelho-de-coleira-interrompida, Tarambola-cinzenta, Rola-do-mar, Fuselo and many more. Also Gaivota-pequena, Franga-d'água-grande, Gaivina-preta, Gaivina-d'asa-branca and Gaivina-de-faces-brancas and raptors and passerines pass over this spot.
