If you want to see thousands of Flamingo-comum, Galeirão-comum, Arrabio, Piadeira and much more you should visit the Akyatan Lagoon in winter. This is a Ramsar Area of Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean cost. It is largest lagoon in Turkey. It is also important for Grou-comum in winter. Guarda-rios-de-papo-branco, Guarda rios malhados and Águia-pesqueira can be seen there. You can find many breeding couples of Perdiz-do-mar. coruja-da-igreja / coruja-das-torres is also a breeding bird. One of the highligted species is Francolim-escuro which well known by locals and bird watchers.

Best way to reach Akyatan Lagoon is by car. There are village roads which you can use to reach the area. Around the lagoon there are unpaved roads that can be slippery and muddy in winter. Click on a P in the map for directions or coordinates.
