Lake Erçek is surrounded by mountains and hills. The patchy reedbeds and mudflats attracts many bird species. During the breeding season it is easy to see Pato-de-rabo-alçado and during the autumn Ganso-pequeno-de-testa-branca flocks are coming to the lake area. On the other side, there are many other species to see such as Pato-ferrugíneo, Flamingo-comum, Socó-taquari, Ganso-comum, Noitibó da Europa, Grou-comum and Zarro-comum.
