Descrição
There are numerous car parks around Blagdon Reservoir, and two bird hides. An 8 km circular walk around the lake is possible. See map on the link below.
The chief interest is the easternmost hide looking over the autumn mudflats. Expect Pilrito-comum, Maçarico-de-bico-direito, Pilrito-sanderlingo, Perna-vermelha-comum, Perna-verde-comum and plovers. The swampy wooded area by the hide may have Galinhola and Narceja-comum. Wintering ducks may include Pato-olho-d'ouro, Piadeira, Pato-trombeteiro, perhaps Pato-de-cauda-afilada or Mergulhão-caçador. In stormy winter weather, proximity to the Bristol channel makes this a refuge for windblown seabirds. 177 species have been seen, including rarities such as Falaropo-de-bico-fino, Pilrito de Baird, Pilrito de Temminck and Gaivina-preta. Note: A permit is required (see info below).
