Descrição
Resident and passage waders, especially at Haven and at Longhoughton Steel, 1.5 km north. Large Tarambola-dourada flocks in winter, with records of Tarambola-dourada-pequena and Batuirucu. Passage Maçarico-galego and Pilrito-de-bico-comprido. Winter Pilrito-escuro. The tidal foreshore is unusual in that there are sheltered areas of shallow water protected from waves by reefs at almost all states of the tide, making it an important feeding location for the Andorinha-do-mar-anãs that breed at the nearby Long Nanny (q.v.) and other terns.
Mobêlha-pequena and Mobêlha-grande, and occasionally Mobêlha-árctica, can be seen offshore in winter, and Mobêlha-de-bico-branco has been recorded.
Vagrant passerines on foreshore and at Seaton Point, 1.5 km south in 2020-22 included Pisco-de-peito-azul, Felosa-icterina and Chasco-do-deserto. Escrevedeira-das-neves regular in winter. Picanço-de-dorso-ruivo and Picanço-grande have both occurred on passage.
