Brookmill's habitat is actively managed to provide the best conditions for species that are harder to spot elsewhere in London, including Guarda-rios-comum, Garça-branca-pequena, Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto and Estrelinha-de-poupa. The pond is very peaceful and particularly pretty in spring, with a very loud dawn chorus. Ganso do Egipto, Pato-mandarim and Garça-real also feed there.

The park is right alongside Elverson Station (on London's DLR line) or just five minutes from Lewisham centre. There's a cycle path that cuts through the park that reaches London's Thames path at Greenwich in less than 15 minutes.
