Descrição
Derwent Reservoir is always good for wildfowl, especially for wintering ducks, geese and swans. Águia-pesqueira nest locally in spring/summer. One of the owl boxes near the hide is often occupied by coruja-da-igreja / coruja-das-torres in breeding season. Waders (Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, Abibe-comum, Perna-vermelha-comum, Ostraceiro, Maçarico-real, Maçarico-das-rochas) and woodland bird species (Pica-pau-malhado-grande, Trepadeira-azul, Tit and Finch flocks) are also regular.

Lay-by parking on minor road north from B6306 (Blanchland to Edmunbyers) close to the hide; also off B6306 near Edmundbyers. Can be reached by cycle from Consett or Corbridge but be aware of steep hills. No nearby public transport. See below link for more details.
