Descrição
Durlston is an excellent place to go birdwatching at any time of the year. The cliffs are home to the largest breeding colony of Arau-comum in Southern England. Torda-mergulheira also breed but in smaller numbers. Passing seabirds such as Ganso-patola and Gaivota-tridáctila can be seen at any time, but particularly during windy weather. falcão-peregrino and Corvo patrol the cliffs. During autumn, 'visible migration' can be spectacular with thousands of finches and pipits passing overhead just after dawn. The woodland areas provide habitat for Águia-d'asa-redonda, Gavião da Europa, Trepadeira-azul and Trepadeira-do-bosque; in autumn, passage species in the woodland can include Felosa-bilistada and Estrelinha-de-cabeça-listada. In spring and early summer, the scrub areas are alive with migrant warblers including papa-amoras-cinzento. Migrating raptors such as Milhafre-real, Águia-pesqueira, Ógea and Esmerilhão pass through the Park.
