Stone Point offers a good vantage point over the River Colne with species such as Merganso-de-poupa flying in and out of the Estuary. In the bushes and muddy areas you can find Cartaxo-comum, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and Petinha-marítima during the winter and if you are lucky Escrevedeira-das-neves. The saltmarsh and beach are good places to watch Ganso-de-faces-negras, Pilrito-sanderlingo, Seixoeira, Pilrito-comum, Borrelho-grande-de-coleira, Perna-vermelha-comum, Alfaiate, Maçarico-real, Tarambola-cinzenta, Maçarico-de-bico-direito and Fuselo at close range during the winter. The area can be busy with visitors so early or late visits can be productive.
