Descrição
Powderham Corner is on the west bank of the Exe estuary. It is one of the last areas of mud to be covered by the incoming tide, bringing birds nearer to watchers, as well as the estuary the area on the land side has open farmland which birds use to roost or continue to feed. Since the building of a cycle/footpath access is good. You can walk further north to join up with the nearby RSPB Exminster Marshes.
PLEASE NOTE, due to erosion on the estuary embankment during spring tides in March of 2023, some remedial work will be undertaken starting on 06/09/23, these works are estimated to last 3-4 weeks, because of this some foot and cyclepaths will be temporarily closed, please follow diversion signs.

On the Exminster to Starcross road turn left at road sign to Powderham Church, carry on to the church where there is a car park with a honesty box. There is a very small parking area further on that only holds 2-3 cars. The cycle path/footpath heads north near this parking area and goes over the Paddington to Penzance mainline, within 100 metres of this bridge is the best spot and in high winds from the west you can shelter below the embankment wall, you can continue north along this path to reach Turf Lock and canal.

Whilst the main Estuary is the main star make sure you check the many fields on the land side as during periods of heavy rain these fields frequently flood leaving many pools.
