Descrição
Fairlop Waters is the largest country park in Redbridge and has a wide diversity of habitats like grassland, woodland, ponds, and lakes. The large boating lake has Ganso do Canadá, Galeirão-comum and Abibe-comum. A nesting habitat has been created on the main island for birds. Around the smaller fishing lake Mergulhão-de-crista, Cisne-vulgar and sometimes Maçarico-das-rochas can be observed.
The surrounding area is a mix of open scrub with some thick areas of shrubs and trees which attract Papa-amoras-comum, papa-amoras-cinzento and Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto. To south of the main complex and golf course is a small fenced off nature reserve. Birds that you can spot in the area all year round include Pica-pau-verde, Laverca, Garça-real, Mocho-galego, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and Petinha-dos-prados among others. Some winter visitors are Estrelinha-de-poupa, Zarro-comum, Pato-trombeteiro and Zarro-negrinha.
