Glasfynydd Forest has mostly moorland and woodland species eg Cartaxo-comum, Lagópode-cinzento, Rabirruivo-de-testa-branca, Narceja-comum, Narceja-galega, Esmerilhão, peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro and Milhafre-real. In winter Picanço-grande, Cruza-bico-comum, Dom-fafe, Lugre and pintarroxo-pequeno. Few birds on the reservoir but Marrequinha-comum, Garça-real and Merganso-grande possible. Melro-d'água and Alvéola-cinzenta below the dam. For Noitibó da Europa, look for a recently felled forest area with regrowth of bracken, bramble etc - only active after dark between May and August.

From Swansea take A4067 Tawe valley road then left two miles beyond Danyrogof caves. From A40 Brecon/Llandovery road, turn south from Trecastle. Buses through Trecastle regularly. Train station at Llandovery. The circular walk around the reservoir is 8 km.
