Llandrindod Wells Lake is best avoided in high summer from a birding perspective due to the rafting, sailing and kayaking activities. In spring there may be Felosa-dos-juncos, rouxinol-dos-caniços, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços, Guarda-rios-comum, Garça-branca-pequena, Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas, plus woodpeckers, Papa-moscas-cinzento, Papa-moscas-preto, Felosa-musical, Rabirruivo-de-testa-branca and Galinhola in the woods.

Llandrindod Wells is 4 miles east of the A470 Rhayader-Builth Wells road. The train station is a stop on the scenic Heart of Wales line, see link below. The lake is at the southern end of the town. The figure of eight walking loop shown is 2 km.
