Descrição
The Loch of Skene is a large shallow freshwater lake partially surrounded by woodlands and located within extensive mixed-agriculture farmland. The loch is known for its natural beauty and the variety of wildlife it supports. It is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Ramsar site for wildlife conservation purposes. The area supports concentrations of wildfowl in autumn and winter. Excellent for observing Ganso-de-bico-curto in winter, as well as Pato-olho-d'ouro, Piadeira, Zarro-negrinha, Ganso-comum and Cisne-vulgar. The lake can attract rare migrants at any time of the year. Águia-pesqueira fishes in the loch in summer.

The Loch of Skene is located 9 miles (14 km) west of Aberdeen, near the village of Skene. Easy parking on the east side of the lake. Press P for directions to the parking spot. From the parking you can walk through the forest to the lake.
