The Moor Green Lakes Nature Reserve occupies 36 hectares north of the River Blackwater. A footpath runs along much of the River Blackwater and provides reasonable, but sometimes distant, views of the lakes. There are 2 hides on the reserve providing good views of the lakes. Resident birds are Mergulhão-pequeno, Mergulhão-de-crista, Garça-branca-pequena, Gavião da Europa, Abibe-comum, Mocho-galego, Guarda-rios-comum, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços, Dom-fafe and Milhafre-real. Summer visitors are Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira, Guincho-comum, Andorinha-do-mar-comum and Ógea. In winter you can expect Merganso-grande, Pato-olho-d'ouro, Merganso-pequeno, Alvéola-cinzenta and sometimes Coruja-do-nabal. During migration birds like Marreco, Águia-pesqueira, Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis and Perna-verde-comum can sometimes be spotted.

At the western end, there is a small car park off Lower Sandhurst Road (SU 805 628), and at the eastern end, the Activity Centre car-park off Mill Lane (SU 821 620).
