Pegwell Bay is considered a nature reserve of international importance as it is home to a range of seashore birds and wildlife found nowhere else in East Kent. Lots of rare and common birds including: Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis, Garça-branca-pequena, Colhereiro, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços, Pintarroxo-comum, Pilrito-comum, Pato-branco, Perdiz-comum, Alfaiate, Piadeira. And occasionally Poupa and Picanço-grande.

You can park in the car park (click on the P in the map to go there directly) where there is also a cafe and toilets and the best way to explore the area is by foot. There is a bird hide, which is accessible for disabled visitors.
