Start at Shepherd's Wheel a working Cutler's grinding wheel powered by water. See breeding Melro-d'água and Alvéola-cinzenta in an urban setting, Trepadeira-azul, Trepadeira-do-bosque, Pica-pau-malhado-grande, Pica-pau-verde, Felosa-comum, Toutinegra-de-barrette-preto, Coruja-do-mato, plus wintering Tordo-ruivo-comum, Tordo-zornal, Tentilhão-montês and Merganso-grande. Very popular but with easy conditions underfoot as you gradually rise to the source of the Porter Brook on the edge of the Peak District with stunning views back down onto Sheffield. There's a popular cafe half way along the route at Forge Dam a former water wheel and mill pond.

The walk follows on from Endcliffe Park (head out of the city on A625, after Hunter's Bar roundabout turn right onto Rustlings Rd. Walk starts at the mini roundabout at the far end, on-street parking available, though popular. The route indicated on the map is about 4,5 km long one way.
