In Winter, hunting Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis over the reeds is a common sight, along with waterfowl on the pools, coruja-da-igreja / coruja-das-torres hunting over the grassy areas, some increasingly spectacular murmaerations of Estorninho-malhado and with the chance of Chapim-de-bigode. Year round there are a number of way marked trails to follow through the reserve. Summer brings Ógea and Rouxinol-bravo which can occasionally be heard over winter now too. Woodland birds are found in the wooded area to the south of the reserve.
