Descrição
Tucked away in Leicestershire, the Reedbed Nature Reserve at Watermead Country Park consists of four hides, one of which looks over the fabulous Wanlip Meadows. In winter, Frango-d'água and with a little bit of luck Abetouro-comum can be seen stalking in the extensive reedbeds there. Pintarroxo-de-queixo-preto, various Tits and Lugre will visit the feeders from the Kingfisher Hide. Guarda-rios-comum can also be viewed from most of the hides.
Spring announces the arrival of waders and the marshier area of the River Soar, viewed from the Plover Hide is great for Narceja-comum and Perna-vermelha-comum. Other waders such as Pilrito-comum, Maçarico-real and Ostraceiro can also be seen around the reserve. Andorinha-do-mar-comum, Andorinha-das-barreiras, Andorinho-dos-beirais, Andorinha-das-chaminés and Andorinhão-preto all fly around the reserve in spring and summer, with the Andorinha-das-barreiras nesting in the bank for them. Autumn is quite an interesting month for migration for more waders such as Perna-verde-comum, Pássaro-bique-bique, Maçarico-das-rochas, Alfaiate and Borrelho-pequeno-de-coleira can be viewed from around the reserve.
