Blean Woods is a patchwork of traditional coppice woodland, high forest, glades and heathland. The mix of habitats attracts lots of different bird species. In the dense thickets birds like Rouxinol-comum nest. Some areas of the woodland are made up almost entirely of large oaks and beech trees. Here you can observe Pica-pau-malhado-grande and Pica-pau-malhado-pequeno. As night falls on summer evenings you can see the territorial display flight of the Galinhola. The breeding birds of the Blean Woods include other typical deciduous woodland species as Gavião da Europa and Coruja-do-mato. The Noitibó da Europa breeds in more open, recently felled areas. Ógea is often seen on passage.

RSPB Blean Woods is located just northwest of Canterbury. Free parking from dusk till dawn. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. Different walking routes from 3 - 12 km. Indicated on the map is the Blean Woods Red Trail, a 4.3 km loop trail.
