RSPB The Oa is home to many important breeding and wintering birds, including Gralha-de-bico-vermelho, Águia-real, Tartaranhão-azulado, falcão-peregrino and occasionally Codornizão. During the winter months the reserve is very important for wintering Ganso-grande-de-testa-branca and in particular, Pintarroxo-de-bico-amarelo. With The Oa reserve hosting likely the largest wintering flock in the UK. Águia-real is present throughout the year, soaring above the cliffs and moors.

By bus: The nearest bus stop is in Port Ellen. By road: Approximately 6 miles (9.6 km) south-west of Port Ellen, Isle of Islay.
