Descrição
A good suburban local patch site with a variety of waterfowl and wetland birds. Best in late summer and early autumn when exposed mud can attract a good selection of waders including Perna-vermelha-escuro, Perna-verde-comum, Pássaro-bique-bique, and even the occasional Franga-d'água-grande, but also in spring when the shrubs and reedbeds attract an assortment of warblers. A substantial Corvo-marinho-de-faces-brancas roost builds up on the trees on the island in the middle of the pond, and Milhafre-reals from the Gateshead reintroduction scheme fly over regularly.

Several bus services connect with central Gateshead and Blaydon. Parking is available at the adjacent Blaydon Youth & Community Centre.
There is a locked hide at the southeast corner (Durham Bird Club members); if you are visiting, knock on the door and if anyone is in, they will usually let you in. Most of the paths are wheelchair-accessible, as is the hide.
