This peacefull walk along a little used route along the east bank of the River Nene where it enters the Wash is a good place to see Petinha-dos-prados, Escrevedeira-dos-caniços and Cartaxo-comum alongside the path. Waders such as Narceja-comum and Perna-vermelha-comum are possible down in the drainage ditches, and raptors can be seen hunting over the adjacent fields and salt marsh e.g. Gavião da Europa, Milhafre-real ,Águia-d'asa-redonda, peneireiro-de-dorso-malhado / peneireiro and Tartaranhão-ruivo-dos-pauis.
The lighthouses flanking the River Nene are surely an interesting landmark in their own right, however the recently restored East Bank Lighthouse, previously owned by Sir Peter Scott, may add a little extra interest for birders. Sir Peter Scott is an important figure in British ornithology and wildlife conservation and he is the founder of the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.

Sir Peter Scott Lighthouse is located north of the village of Sutton Bridge, in Lincolnshire. It sits on the east bank of the River Nene, right at the point where the river flows into The Wash estuary. A reasonably large car park is available at the lighthouse, which is free to use.
