On the island of Tiree 133 bird species have been seen. The freshwater Loch a'Phuill attracts waders such as Perna-vermelha-escuro, Borrelho-ruivo, Perna-verde-comum and Maçarico-das-rochas. In the dunes there may be Escrevedeira da Lapónia, Escrevedeira-das-neves, Codornizão, Coruja-do-nabal or Felosa-malhada. The cliffs at Ceann a Mhara are a useful seawatch point in autumn and have breeding Arau-comum, Torda-mergulheira, Fulmar-glacial, Gaivota-tridáctila, Corvo-marinho-de-crista and perhaps falcão-peregrino or Gralha-de-bico-vermelho.

Tiree is reached by ferry from the mainland, or by air from Glasgow. The loch and cliffs are accessed from Barrapol or Balephuil in the island's SW corner.
